Brazil’s pulp production and export growth in the first quarter of 2023, China remains the largest export destination

According to data from the Brazilian Forest Industry Association (Ib ), Brazil’s pulp production increased by 2.6% in the first quarter of 2023, while exports increased by 12.9% compared to the same period in 2022.

China remains the main destination for pulp exports produced by Brazil, with a trade volume of 962.9 million US dollars in the first three months of 2023, an increase of 38.2% compared to the same period in 2022. In terms of paper, Latin America remains Brazil’s main buyer, with exports totaling $395 million.

In the first quarter of 2023, Brazil’s pulp production reached 6.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%. During the same period, the production of paper reached 2.7 million tons, including 1.5 million tons of packaging paper and 349000 tons of household paper products, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%.
