Exports of lumber from Germany to the U.S. triple in January[Mar 9, 2023] |
In January 2023, the exports of lumber from Germany to the U.S. soared 202% year-on-year to 367.7 thousand m3. The average price for lumber exported from Germany to the U.S. in January 2023 lost 6% compared to the previous month and amounted to $287 per m3. This is 38% less than a year ago when it was $464. Logs are increasing in price and are rare The increasing prices for logs alone – 6 to 10 €/m³ since the beginning of the year – do not hurt the sawmills as much as the shortage of logs that has occurred. In both southern Germany and Austria, capacities are currently not being fully utilized. |
