The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corp (STIDC) will reportedly spend RM88.4mil (approx US$23mil.) under the 8th Malaysia Plan to expand its furniture vendor programme. According STIDC, several furniture workshops and related facilities will be built to enable more vendors to participate in the programme.

The allocations for the proposed gallery projects include RM15mil for Limbang, RM14mil for Kemena, Bintulu, RM12mil for Kapit, RM5mil for Tanjung Manis and RM5.7mil for a furniture gallery in Semariang, Kuching.

The galleries are for the vendors to exhibit their furniture products. The vendor programme, initiated in 1996, has 40 companies registered with it. With the exception of one vendor, which exports its products, the others are producing furniture for the local market.
