Random Lengths Lumber Market
Report
While the sales pace was not as brisk as in
previous weeks, the run in many framing lumber
prices held to a steady upward course. Some
prices gained more sharply, with 2x6 in any
grade of dimension and in studs often leading
the way. Notable laggards were 2x4 studs, with
prices of some species and trims holding at
best. Low grade also lagged, with spreads
between Utility/#3 and #2/#2&Btr widening. With
#2/#2&Btr dimension setting the pace, the Random
Lengths Framing Lumber Composite rose to $440.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel prices continued to climb. Demand for OSB was
highly mixed across North America, with markets in the eastern half
of the continent drawing much of the interest. This led to loads
from Western Canada shipping to non-traditional markets such as
Eastern Canada and the Northeast. Despite a slower sales pace in
Southern Pine plywood, steady demand supported firm to slightly
higher prices of rated sheathing. Western Fir plywood sales were
steady, but the pace dropped a notch.
