Price trends in framing lumber were mixed.
Southern Pine was the primary exception to a
wider weakening trend. A number of SYP mills
were off the market as they caught up on late
shipments. Torrential rains and floods
preoccupied traders in East Texas, but other key
markets picked up the slack. In other species,
trading was generally liquid, but producers
usually had to trim prices to entice buyers.
Strength in Southern Pine offset weakness in the
other species, and the Random Lengths Framing
Lumber Composite Price was unchanged.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading and price trends were mixed. In most
regions, OSB sales were quiet as buyers digested recent purchases.
Trading was most active in Western Canada. Southern Pine plywood
mills went after orders on rated sheathing more aggressively staring
Wednesday. Producers opened to sharp counters or lowered quotes to
draw in customers. Most western Fir plywood producers reported an
increase in sheathing sales. However, several cut quotes and opened
to hefty counters to build order files through next week.
