U.S.: Lumber and panel market report ---- Week 47 2015

Random Lengths Lumber Market Report
Trends were mixed in framing lumber markets. Early week trading surpassed some traders’ expectations, although most sensed activity winding down Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. Downward price pressure evident through most of November eased in Southern Pine; despite a fair degree of absenteeism, buyers filled near-term needs and some secondaries staked out long positions. Upward momentum from last week’s late rally carried into Monday in Western S-P-F.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Demand for structural panels faded as the holiday weekend approached in the U.S. OSB producers with loads available for quick shipment accepted counters and searched for business, but those with order files into December coasted into the Thanksgiving holiday. In Southern Pine plywood markets, low sales expectations for the holiday week were essentially met. Activity was fairly steady Tuesday as traders tied up loose ends before the break. Activity in western Fir plywood was tempered other than a few spurts of sales that popped up sporadically through the week.
