Amid gains, cracks also developed in framing
lumber prices, as trading was sluggish much of the week. Many decision
makers and traders traveled to Dallas at midweek for the annual NAWLA
Traders Market, while others attended a few other industry shows. This
left phone activity at a low level through Thursday, with expectations
that it would remain limited for the balance of the week. Even so, the
Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price edged up, posting its
sixth straight weekly gain.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Energy faded in structural panel markets. OSB sales slowed as the
week progressed. Buyers covered scattered needs with less urgency.
Many stepped back to digest purchases made in recent weeks. Southern
Pine plywood producers marked a dull week of sales, as wet weather
slowed shipments to soggy job sites. Some wrote the week off, as
many customers were out of their offices to attend industry
gatherings. Trading in western Fir plywood was tough, particularly
in sheathing, and prices softened modestly.
