Random Lengths Lumber Market
Report
The pace of framing lumber sales shifted down a
gear, but price trends finished October either flat or with an upward
tilt. Reports in the field indicated generally steady consumption,
although some areas of the South were doused with remnants of Hurricane
Patricia. Month-end discounting and rain in Texas and the Southeast put
the brakes on consumption and upward price movement in Southern Pine.
The Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price, however, posted a $5
gain.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel markets played to widely mixed reviews, with OSB
leading the way while plywood lagged. The trend arrow pointed higher
for the 13th consecutive week in OSB markets, even though the pace
of sales lost some steam. A slower week of sales left most Southern
Pine plywood prices unchanged from midweek. Wet weather slowed
deliveries to job sites across much of the South. Western Fir
plywood mills opened to counters as activity cooled across key
consuming regions. Volumes were light.
