Random Lengths Lumber Market

Trading in framing lumber didn’t measure up to the
previous two weeks’ pace. But sales were steady enough for mills to
extend order files further into November and keep upward pressure on
prices. Mild fall weather prevailed across the continent, and demand was
steady to active in both the U.S. and Canada. Traders noted some signs
of resistance building among their customers. But the fall rally was
undeniable, as the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price rose
for a fourth-straight week. .

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel markets forged gains. An OSB market that has been
on the rise for nearly a quarter hit a higher gear this week.
Limited mill offerings became even more scarce. Reported prices
often finished with $10-20 increases. Prices of Southern Pine rated
sheathing remained in a slow grind upward. Sanded prices, meanwhile,
were vulnerable. A few producers remained off the market. Western
Fir plywood demand and pricing was mixed in an uneven week of
trading. Mill quotes spanned wide ranges.
