U.S.: Lumber and panel market report ---- Week 39 2015

Random Lengths Lumber Market Report
Many framing lumber prices found firmer footing by late in the week amid a mix of activity levels. Southern Pine led the way in sales and price appreciation, despite heavy rains during the week and customers on the East Coast bracing for a hurricane to make landfall. The scheduled expiration of the Softwood Lumber Agreement continued to weigh on many traders’ approach to the market. Gains in Southern Pine offset losses in other species, and the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price edged up.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading produced mixed results. The steady climb in OSB prices was unabated for the ninth straight week, and the OSB Composite reached its highest level since last November. Some Southern Pine plywood traders reported a better tone to the market, citing prices that represented good values and the impact of recent production cutbacks. Others remained bearish, noting ample production and heavy rain that slowed shipments. Western Fir plywood mills booked orders at a brisker pace compared to recent weeks.
