Report
Prices of framing lumber were mostly soft, as steady consumption
in the U.S. was outweighed by supplies. Traders surmised that the U.S.
was the target for a larger share of both Canadian and U.S. production.
While liquidity was decent, the market was unable to readily absorb the
supplies. European imports were also a factor in East Coast markets.
Faltering prices resulted in the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite
Price shedding $7, to $319, its seventh consecutive weekly decline.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel sales accelerated as the week progressed. Price
increases in OSB weren’t as robust as those seen in plywood markets,
but steady upward movement was apparent. Southern Pine plywood sales
kicked into high gear Wednesday and Thursday. News of Fir plywood
production disruptions in the West pulled Southern Pine buyers into
the market with more urgency. Western Fir plywood sales surged late
Wednesday and carried through Thursday; prices tracked upward.
