Report
Price trends were mixed in framing lumber markets. West Coast
species held firm or gained modestly, while Southern Pine softened
across all three producing zones. Shortened order files forced some
producers to open to counters in Eastern and Western S-P-F, although
they took a firmer stance after a mild pickup in sales Thursday. A $1
drop in the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price affirmed lower
taxes in August for Canadian producers shipping to the U.S.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel prices were mostly flat to down during a dull week
of sales. Demand for OSB failed to keep up with production in most
regions, and prices drifted lower. Further weakening of the Canadian
dollar enticed producers there to sell into U.S. markets. The
overall tone of the Southern Pine plywood market was bearish. Prices
finished flat to down, with larger-than-usual spreads evident
between truck and railcar pricing. Sales picked up in Western Fir
plywood, and reported prices were mostly flat.
