MALAYSIA

Furniture exports to exceed RM7 billion in 2005

The Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) has established four furniture industrial parks throughout the country to encourage furniture-making activities as part of the government policy to accelerate the exports of furniture, incorporated into the Third Industrial Master Plan (2006-2020). The Government is confident that Malaysia ’s furniture exports will exceed RM 7 billion Malaysian ringgit (MR, $1.85 billion) this year from 6.65 billion MR in 2004.
