UK Timber windows

According to the bi-annual survey "Timber Windows Report", a market analysis commissioned by the British Woodworking Federation, one third of interviewed manufacturers expect that sales for timber windows will increase in the period March-August 2004 compared with the previous year.

Some 62% of timber window manufacturers are expecting better profits compared to the previous six months. The report says that in the UK 45% of windows sold are standard sizes, 35% are made to measure and 20% are bespoke. In terms of wood type some 79% are softwood windows the balance 21% being of hardwoods.

Report from Holland

To summarise the situation, the buying from Holland is not really strong, the prices in Malaysia are still moving up marginally and this seems to provide evidence of a shortage of logs at the mills.
